Rainbow Daze Blanket

A bit of inspiration behind the name:

When my mum gave me her spare skein of this Narnia colorway (knowing I loved it so much) I knew I had to add that to the inspo behind this cheery design.  Using inspo from her granny square blankets she always made when I was a kid, I thought it’d be fun to mix a little bit of texture and softness with these two yarn lines.  The finished product also works beautifully as a lap blanket from kids to adults!  I am gifting this to someone I love and this sweet little blanket will surely add a smile to whomever you make it for.  Baby shower coming up? Your gift will be a hit with this rainbow effect!

Perfect lap blanket for anyone in the fam! Even though this is sized for baby it works brilliantly as a lap blanket which is exactly what I intended it to be and gift it as. This year I’m hoping to make all of my designs as gifts throughout this year. With this ones bright colors and nice size I thought it’d be a cheery, love in every stitch, chemo blanket for someone near and dear to me and hopefully bring a smile and remind them how loved they are each time they sit under it.

 NOTES

  1. Please see my YouTube for pattern/stitch tutorials. www.youtube.com/@whistleandwool

  2. Beginning Chain counts as a stitch.

  3. Worked in the round from the center working outwards.

  4. The granny pattern of 3dcs is worked between each group of 3dcs to form clusters.

  5. The (ch3, 2dc) in the beginning of each round and the 3dcs count as a granny cluster.

  6. Sl St into the top of your beginning chain to join in the round.

  7. When working Round 27, the post of the first dc1 made after your sk1, is the post you work your second stitch around.

  8. To begin your Round 27+29, you skip your beginning ch3 from the previous round for the first sk1, working into the next dc from the previous round.

  9. To begin your Round 30, you skip your beginning ch3 from the previous round to begin the sk2.

  10. Color Changes: When joining your second skein of Mandala Yarn I started at the point where my first skein left off to keep the color flowing. Adjust this as preferred for your own fun look!

 GAUGE

**Please check your gauge before you start this Pattern to match the finished measurements:

It’s best to make your swatch slightly bigger than what the pattern states it should measure, so you can measure it in the center of your square, getting an accurate reading. You can do this by adding 2 additional stitches and working 2 additional rows.  Do not count the first and last stitch in your measurement or the first and last row.

Hook Size Suggestions:

  • If your swatch has less stitches, swatch again using a smaller hook.

  • If your swatch has more stitches, swatch again using a larger hook.
