Cotswold Infinity Scarf

NEW - Available as a PDF in my Ravelry, Etsy and LoveCrafts shops!

A bit of inspiration behind the name: Cotswold Infinity Scarf

Last year I designed an end of year gift to all of you for your kind support of me, and it was an easy to make, full of texture, Cotswold Cowl! This year I thought it would be fun to continue the line with an awesome infinity scarf! You can make it in your favorite colors and then bundle up - be cozy!

“I hope you love this one! Each and every pattern purchase, blog view and Kit purchase you’ve ever made means me so much to me! This pattern is a quick thank you for all your love and support of my designs throughout the year with my Kits with Lion Brand Yarn, new design debuts, and blog posts, of which none of it would be possible without your support! ” - Angie (now more from me below… haha!)

Grab the Hue + Me yarn! Select any colorway or two, I had a tester use 3 and it was amazing!

NOTE: 2023 Temperature Cowl Instructions included after the pattern instructions.

A classic and elegant reversible linen texture adds drape and warmth to this infinity scarf. It wraps around twice and can go from dressy to casual while keeping you warm and cozy.

Here’s the thing about infinity scarves if you ask me! They’re tricky to make! Too short, not wide enough, too long, the stitch is stiff, etcetera etcetera... They can turn out so close but not always be perfect and have me reaching for them, so I’m very picky when I make an infinity scarf.

When I say I was excited about the 2nd design to add to the Cotswold Collection, I mean I was so excited I jumped onto IG to show you all the finished photos as soon as I did it. I think the yarn stitch and length all came together to finally give me that infinity look and wrap I kept tinkering with to make! The other cool thing is this can be your quick present, and market stock, just like my cowl. It was a breeze to work up once I got my length perfect, and the width just all seemed to fall into place with this one. SO, I really hope you love it, I think it’s just perfect! If I design another infinity scarf, this is my new standard.

Beginner, Bulky Weight, Crochet

The yarn I used is a real bulky-bulky! It’s light as can be which is great, because even with the scarf’s size, it’s light and airy on the neck, but the bulky yarn adds so much warmth! The palette to chose from is epic, so have fun and pick your favorites!!

GAUGE

**Please check your gauge before you start this Pattern to match the finished measurements for this pattern:

It’s best to make your swatch slightly bigger than what the pattern states it should measure so you can measure it in the center of your square, getting an accurate reading. You can do this by adding 2 additional stitches and work 2 additional rows.  Do not count the first and last stitch in your measurement or the first and last row.

Hook Size Suggestions:

  • If your swatch has less stitches, swatch again using a smaller hook.

  • If your swatch has more stitches, swatch again using a larger hook.

2023 Temperature Scarf Instructions

If you didn’t know, this idea of making a temperature version was even an option, well it is!  This is a 2023 project I just started, please visit my blog for all the info if you’re interested.  I have details of how to do it, how to break up your week temps, cool gift ideas and all sorts of info on the in-depth creating of your quick year long project!

For the temperature version, your beginning chain row and Row 2 will be in the Color A yarn you designated to use as your month color. At the start of every month we will work 2 rows in Color A, to help show a separation and break up of the months. All other rows are worked as stated on the blog outline to correspond with whichever color you attributed to that weekly average temp (2 rows).  Another thing to remember is our Scarf has more rows then the 2 for each month and 2 for each week of the year.

See below:

 52 weeks x 2 rows = 104 rows. 12 months x 2 rows = 24 rows (a total of 128 rows)

Our Pattern has a total of 148 rows.  So for the remaining rows at the end of the year, work those in Color A as a modern color block to finish off your Scarf.

Ch 31

Row 1: In the second chain from the hook, sc the row - (30 sts)

Row 2-128: Ch1, turn, (ch1, skip 1, sc1) for the row - (30 sts)

(work in your temperature/monthly stripes)

Row 129-149: Repeat Row 2

  • Scarf should measure approx. 60” in length, add/remove rows as needed. Last row worked is a RS row.

  • Cut yarn, leaving a tail 2X the width of the last row for seaming
