Falling Into Comfort
UPDATE: A correction was added on the gauge for this pattern. Please note the *stitches per 4 inches* should have read 12, not 9. I also took a moment to add an unblocked Gauge swatch read, in case you didn't have time to block or let the swatch rest, and this will help you to get started on your project right away.

I love fall and I love comfort! So this design came about just as summer was about to end and I envisioned a big over sized, new favorite sweater that I could gravitate to and be wrapped in warmth and comfort. It could go with a casual comfy clothes or be dressed up if I had somewhere to go! I loved how this turned out and it it wears so easily!
I designed this with very little body shaping for that over sized look and feel. I also made it so the front is the same size as the back and that made it so it hugs the back of your neck after you seam the shoulders together! What did that do? That made it so it never slips off the shoulder or needs adjusting. It just wears in a way that it won't be your concern for the day, it'll just keep you warm!
It's created in one large piece (ribbing made at the same time as the sweater), then you add the sleeves and pockets and you're done!
As you know I always like to name my designs after locations in England I either had lovely memories of visiting with my fam or have yet to go. My love for history and learning always has me including a lovely dip into history behind every design name. I still included a dip into history about Fall, so if like me you love these fantastic factoids, this one is so interesting!

A bit of History behind the name: Fall/Autumn
Before the 16th century, harvest was the term usually used to refer to the Fall/Autumn season. However, as more people gradually moved from working the land to living in towns, the word harvest lost its reference to the time of year and came to refer only to the actual activity of reaping, and autumn, as well as fall, began to replace it as a reference to the season. The alternative word fall for the season traces its origins to old Germanic languages. However, these words all have the meaning "to fall from a height" and are clearly derived either from a common root or from each other. The term came to denote the season in 16th-century England, a contraction of Middle English expressions like "fall of the leaf" and "fall of the year".
