Cirrus Wrap

NEW - Available as a Kit through Lion Brand Yarn, PDF in my Ravelry, Etsy and LoveCrafts shops!

A bit of inspiration behind the name: Cirrus Clouds

With all the textures repeating and bringing life to every inch of this wrap and colors flowing from one to the next, this one's name came pretty quickly for me.  When I think of Fall skies I often think about the moody greys, bright blues and the warm golden yellows we see during a sunset.  Cirrus Clouds have a feathered or layered appearance that tend to let these different tones shine through and whilst being full of all sorts of texture, it felt like it went so well with this wrap.  Colors of the sky and textured rows flowing from one to the next!

“ I just wanted to do another quick thank you for all your love and support of my designing. I am very excited to announce this design is available as a Kit thanks to Lion Brand Yarn. Each and every Kit purchase you’ve ever made means me collaborating more and more with a company and yarn I find so dear to me. I can’t even begin to add up all the projects I’ve made through the years with their yarn. My latest combo is with their new Worsted Weight Yarn. Order the kit, pick your combo, and happy stitching! If you reach out to me via email or IG, I’m happy to help give my thoughts on colorways to help you pick your perfect kit!” - Angie, now more from me below haha

TEXTURE, TEXTURE, TEXTURE!!!

This design idea was a fun collab with a fellow Lion Brand Yarn Blogger. Lo from Lo Rain Knitwear and I have been buddies on Instagram for a while now and when Lion Brand mentioned having bloggers collab together to create a design in multiple crafts, Lo and I instantly set out to work together! After deciding who’d knit and who’d crochet, we decided what we’d like to make. I was definitely feeling the coziness of a wrap or shawl and when you mix Lo’s love for texture, we narrowed down some of our favorites and set out on designing our own patterns that would be a perfect dupe, so lovers of knit and crochet could cozy up in our design.

Feeling the excitement for Fall next came our color choices. Lo and I share a love for neutrals and grey so that was so easy. She loved the idea of adding the blueish grey thunder color and I was completely feeling the Bee Pollen so our 4 colors were picked, pattern textures selected and off we went each designing our pieces.

When it came time to name my design all I could think about was how each color was some of my favorite moody skies. When I thought about the way the textures layered in rows on top of each other I thought about Cirrus clouds and how perfectly it felt like it fit. In Fall we get some of the most gorgeous yellow and pink sunsets which mixed with moody grey skies, the Cirrus Wrap it is!

Grab the kit! Select any colorway and the pattern is free from Lion Brand Yarn.

Make it in ONE color, or FOUR like I did!!

Want some help pairing up other color combos? I thought you’d never ask haha! I had such a hard time narrowing down through the colors in the beginning, I could easily make 8 of these just to get one in each colorway I loved. Here are some of my faves and ideas brought out by the designer behind the yarn herself, Alexi from Two of Wands. Color Theory is a yarn line Collab from Lion Brand Yarn X Two of Wands. I hope one of these lovely combos speaks to you and helps you select the kit or stash busting Cirrus Wrap of your dreams.

Adv. Beginner, Worsted Weight, Crochet

The yarn in this project really goes a long way. 1 skein per end section and the center colorways is 1.5 skeins. For a total of 6, making this approx 2ft X 7ft wrap a steal!

I worked this up in a fave as far as neutrals go but I’d also like to mention you could totally make yours using a pop of color to add to your OOTD. You can make it all in one color which looks stunning, I had a tester work one up in Nutmeg and that’s definitely on my list of gift ideas for this winter!!

NOTES

  1. Chain doesn’t count as a stitch.

  2. Gauge is flexible with this design.  Stretch and comfort adds to it when worn, so dimensions may change.

  3. A lot of the rows will be crocheted between the stitches, only crochet this way if indicated, otherwise crochet as normal.

  4. I cut my yarns when I switched colorways, I didn’t carry them up.

  5. Row counts will start over in each section, this is easier than a continuous count. Once you begin a new section you can know if you’re on track by recounting that section.

GAUGE

**Please check your gauge before you start this Pattern to match the finished measurements:

It’s best to make your swatch slightly bigger than what the pattern states it should measure, so you can measure it in the center of your square, getting an accurate reading. You can do this by adding 2 additional stitches and work 2 additional rows.  Do not count the first and last stitch in your measurement or the first and last row.

Hook Size Suggestions:

  • If your swatch has less stitches, swatch again using a smaller hook.

  • If your swatch has more stitches, swatch again using a larger hook.
