Amesbury Cardigan
A bit of History behind the name: Amesbury, England is most famous for the prehistoric monument of Stonehenge which is in its parish, and for the discovery of the Amesbury Archer. It has been confirmed by archaeologists that it is the oldest continuously occupied settlement in Great Britain, having been first settled around 8820 BC.
King Alfred the Great left it in his will, a copy of which is in the British Library, to his youngest son Aethelweard (c. 880–922). settled since prehistoric times, evidenced by the monument of Stonehenge. Amesbury is also associated with the Arthurian legend: the convent to which Guinevere retired was said to have been the one at Amesbury.

The Amesbury Cardigan
An oversized cardigan that offers comfort and style to any outfit. When I created the concept of this I wanted something that delivered a lot of comfort and would always fit well. My 3/4 sleeves concept came from those days when I'm inside and cold but still have things to do, ie. pick up the kids toys, computer work on my pattern designs, wash some dishes, get lunch ready etc. The shorter sleeves gave me warmth without always having to push them out of the way. They're just the right length without adding an issue along my already busy moments. So many times I have to remove my jacket when doing something if the sleeves get in the way - and now I'm cold. So this solved all sorts of issues with me being cold all the time haha.
Another design aspect I didn't originally plan was the pockets! However when I finished, I felt like it needed something. It feels like lately I always design something with pockets and that's because I find them soooo necessary haha. I decided to work up a quick pocket and instantly fell in love with how it looked on this. After finishing both and seaming them on, this design was finished!!
I hope you love it and I hope you find it to be that ultimate cozy Cardigan you reach for throughout the year.
